A professional theatre troupe owned by the ailing and absentee theatre doyen N Basavraj puts up a camp in Badami, North Karnataka during the well known yearly Banashankari fair in Badami, To its dismay it finds out that it has to compete with ten other troupes and a couple of makeshift cinema theatres. The struggles of the troupe that calls itself 'Gudigeri Company'. 

With the onslaught of TV, Cinema and the internet, touring professional theatre troupes have been reduced to the fringes in the entertainment scene in Rural Karnataka. Scarcity in the availability of land in prime area and bureaucratic hassles too have added on to their survival woes to this once flourishing entertainment mode.
